The City Comptroller is the Chief Financial Officer of the City and the custodian of all City funds. The office is responsible for general accounting functions, which includes:
- All revenues
- Accounts payable
- Payroll
- Financial reporting to Federal and State agencies
The office is in charge of the investing of city funds, the borrowing of debt and the parking violations bureau.
The office collects City, County and delinquent school property taxes, special assessments, water and sewer billings and parking tickets.
Each year at the end of June, the City Comptroller is required to conduct a tax sale certificate auction to allow for the collection of delinquent property taxes. The office is staffed with seven employees.
